The Agile Daily Stand-Up
A 59 Seconds Agile Article
This article provides an ‘Introduction to The Agile Daily Stand-Up‘ and looks to discuss what the Daily Stand-Up is, the format of the meeting and the benefits of the Daily Scrum.
Scrum Board
The basic function of the scrum board is to keep track of the items from the product backlog that are being worked on in the current sprint, and what their status is at any given moment during the sprint.
The board is laid out with rows and columns. Each row has one of the user stories the team is working on during that specific sprint. The columns show the status of each of the user story tasks.
The user story is broken down into tasks, which are divided into the following columns:
The to-do column, for the tasks that still need to be completed; The in progress column, for the tasks that are currently being worked on by a team member; The ‘to verify’ column, for tasks that need to be tested; and the done column, for tasks that are entirely finished.

User Stories Applied
A 59 Seconds Agile Book Review
User Stories Applied by Mike Cohn is one of our favourite books on Agile User Stories. The book starts with an overview into user stories, and details what a user story is and the different aspects of them. He then discusses how to go about writing a user story, and provides details of the INVEST criteria that can be used to determine if the story is meeting all of its objectives. Next Mike gives an in depth discussion of who user stories are written for and where to begin when gathering the details for them. The book then discusses acceptance testing user stories, including how to go about specifying these criteria and the responsibilities of the development team and customers during this process.
