This article provides an ‘Introduction into the Scrum Project Roles’ and looks to discuss the different roles that are involved in an Agile Scrum Project.
Scrum Master
Another key role is the Scrum Master. The Scrum Master is a coach. They help to remove any obstacles and impediments which the team faces, and aid the team in creating deliverables.
The Scrum Master is a servant leader. They do not have authority over the team but have authority over the process. They ensure that the team has everything they need to make the project a success. They organize meetings and work with the Product Owner to ensure that the product backlog is ready for the next sprint.
The Scrum Master is a scrum ‘guru’. They guide, teach and facilitate the scrum practices to everyone involved in the project, and ensure that the scrum principles are adhered to.

User Stories Applied by Mike Cohn is one of our favourite books on Agile User Stories. The book starts with an overview into user stories, and details what a user story is and the different aspects of them. He then discusses how to go about writing a user story, and provides details of the INVEST criteria that can be used to determine if the story is meeting all of its objectives. Next Mike gives an in depth discussion of who user stories are written for and where to begin when gathering the details for them. The book then discusses acceptance testing user stories, including how to go about specifying these criteria and the responsibilities of the development team and customers during this process.
