An Introduction to The Agile Declaration of Interdependence
A 59 Seconds Agile Article
This article provides an ‘Introduction to The Agile Declaration of Interdependence’ and looks to discuss the Key points within the Agile document.
The Declaration of Interdependence
The third statement of the Declaration is “We expect uncertainty and manage for it through iterations, anticipation, and adaptation.” Consider why waterfall project management is called waterfall.
Once the project is set in motion, it’s very hard to make major changes or tweak the direction, just like it would hard to change the direction of a river or stop a waterfall from flowing. But the world today moves a lot faster than it used to, so your business deserves a project management style that can keep up.
Because you’re following the second statement of the Declaration and checking in with your client as you go, you can’t ignore the changes they may ask for, whether they’re big or small. The client’s requests have to be considered.
Following the fundamentals of agile, allows for change throughout the process of the product development. Agile allows a much higher degree of flexibility than waterfall.

User Stories Applied
A 59 Seconds Agile Book Review
User Stories Applied by Mike Cohn is one of our favourite books on Agile User Stories. The book starts with an overview into user stories, and details what a user story is and the different aspects of them. He then discusses how to go about writing a user story, and provides details of the INVEST criteria that can be used to determine if the story is meeting all of its objectives. Next Mike gives an in depth discussion of who user stories are written for and where to begin when gathering the details for them. The book then discusses acceptance testing user stories, including how to go about specifying these criteria and the responsibilities of the development team and customers during this process.
